In October, 1994 Karen Nisenson, a friend and supporter of the Frisbee Foundation, worked with patients and their siblings at Yale-New Haven Hospital creating original songs as therapy for children who were undergoing treatment for their illness. Karen went from her home in New Canaan, Connecticut to Yale to write songs with children who were being treated at the hospital. She wanted to show the depth and strength within these children after having gone through treatment. Together, with words by the children and music by Karen, they put together a music CD with 10 original songs.
A piano was located at the Yale School of Medicine and the children who were being treated for their illnesses, along with a sister or brother, were wheeled over to the Medical School that was across the street from the hospital. Karen brought a recorder and taped the songs and the music as she played the piano and the children sang their song. The children loved the experience.
Then the songs were sung by children from New Canaan, Connecticut. The CD, Songs from the Treetop, was sold at the Frisbee Foundation gala that year. Children who wrote the songs came and performed them live.
We are releasing a new copy of Songs from the Treetop. The money raised will support the Frisbee Foundation.
The songs were inspired by:
Sarah Dziomba, Evea Greene, Christopher Greene, Enrique Libron, Fernando Marquez, Hecter Marquez, Lisa Marquez, Jasmine Phipot, Irene Pozoukidis, Sophia Pozoukidis, Albana Sela and Laureta Sela
